No fewer than 488 officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force have been elevated in Katsina State Command to different cadre, the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Hurdi, told sunnewsonline.com.
Speaking during the decoration of the newly promoted officers and men at the headquarters of the command in Katsina, Hurdi said the nationwide promotion exercise is geared towards boosting the morale and welfare of the beneficiaries by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar.
Hurdi urged the affected officers and men to regard their elevation as additional responsibility and charged them “to be more discipline, dedicated to duty and uphold the ethical standard of the force.”
The commissioner, who conveyed the congratulatory message from the Inspector General of Police, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 1 Headquarters Kano to the officers and men, said Nigeria Police approved the nationwide promotion.
A breakdown of those elevated in the command shows that two Superintendent of Police (SP) were promoted to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), nine Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) were promoted to SP, 11 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) were elevated to DSP, one Senior Inspector of Police was promoted to Principal Inspector and one Inspector was promoted to Senior Inspector.
About 152 Sergeant (Sgt) were promoted to Inspector, 58 Corporal (CPL) were elevated to Sgt while 254 Police Constable were elevated to CPL.
