Anchor borrower: Kano rice farmers move to curb fraudulent acts

Due to recent finger pointing at the state leadership of RIFAN over some issues relating to anchor borrower processes in Kano state, the leadership of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) Kano chapter has disclosed that, measures have been taken to curb the menace of fraudulent activities by some people to soiled the association’s good reputations in the ongoing federal government agricultural intervention of the anchor borrower scheme.
Speaking to newsmen in Kano, the chairman of RIFAN Kano State chapter, Alhaji Abubakar Haruna Aliyu stated that, the association in the state has been receiving complains of atrocities being perpetrating in processes of the anchor borrower scheme adding that, the public seems not to be aware of the processes involved and therefore became vulnerable to fraudsters posing as members of the association.
“The state chapter has been receiving a lot of disturbing reports on the ongoing CBN’s anchor borrower scheme and many negative reports have been going round on the activities of RIFAN, that was why we swung into action and presently we have suspended some of our local government’s leaders found wanting,” the chairman said.
