The deputy governor of Sokoto State also donated N1 million and a 16-seater and a pledged N2 million monthly donation.
A former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, on Wednesday donated N10 million and four Peugeot 406 cars to the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The donations were announced in Sokoto during a reception organised in honour of members of the PDP Caretaker Committee in the state.
Mr. Bafarawa said that the donation was to aid the committee in its assignment. He called for unity among party leaders and members in the state.
According to him, “it is only with unity that the party can sweep all the elections in the state and Nigeria in 2015″.
The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Mukhtari Shagari, also donated N1 million and a 16-seater bus to the caretaker committee of the party in addition to a pledge of N2 million monthly as long as the assignment of the committee lasted.
He said PDP was intact in the state, saying that it was the only national party in Nigeria.
“United we stand, divided we fall, I can assure you that if we remain united, the PDP will take over the state in 2015,” he said.
Also, Senators Abubakar Gada, Abdallah Wali and former Minister of Sports, Yusuf Suleiman, donated N1 million each to the committee.
In addition, Mr. Gada also donated a Peugeot 406 to the party’s security committee and pledged N3 million monthly for as long as the assignment of the caretaker committee lasts.
In his remarks, a former Minister of Communications, Arzika Tambuwal, said the party would soon commence the registration of its old and new members in the state.
Responding to the donations, Abdullahi Shantali, Chairman of the party’s caretaker committee in the state, thanked the party chieftains for their gesture and promised that the committee would live above board to ensure unity and victory for the party in the state.
