BREAKING: Nigerian army captures notorious Boko Haram leader known as ‘pepper’

The soldiers of the Nigerian army assigned to Forward Operation Base, Potiskum has arrested a notorious Boko Haram commander in Yobe state.

The suspect, a 35-year-old man called Abubaka Adamu, popularly known as ‘Pepper’ was arrested around New Prison area, Potiskum, Potiskum local government area, Yobe state.

Naija News learnt that Adamu was arrested on Sunday, May 14 by the Troops of 233 Battalion, 27 Task Force Brigade, of the Nigerian army.

According to a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, Adamu was arrested with the help of local vigilantes. Preliminary investigation shows that the suspected terrorist hailed from Yerimara village, Potiskum LGA and that he has participated in carrying out attacks and other terrorists activities in the north east. Investigation is still ongoing. In a related development, combined troops of 231and 331 Battalions foiled an armed robbery attempt at Chanchara village, Shani LGA. They recovered an AK-47 Rifle, Machetes and ammunition.

In another news 20 farmers were killed on Monday by suspected Fulani herdsmen while praying inside a mosque over a land dispute in central Nigeria.

The attackers reportedly opened fire at the place of worship in Etogi village during morning prayers on Saturday, Niger state police spokesman Bala Elkana said.
