A chief magistrate court 1 sitting in Katsina, yesterday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the escort commander of Katsina State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Shema.

The court issued warrant on Ali Abubakar Bauranya, an assistant superintendent of police(ASP) over his alleged failure to appear in court to answer charges of alleged assault filed against him.

ASP Bauranya was dragged to court by one Yahaya Kabir who through his counsel, Barr A.D Umar, filed direct criminal complaints over alleged assault on him by the accused on the 13th of March 2014.

The complainant alleged that on the said date during President Goodluck Jonathan’s visit to Katsina State, the accused, ASP Bauranya, blocked him on the road while driving and ordered him to park, alleging that after parking the accused smashed his car front and back windscreen.

In a suit number KT/CMC/14DC 2014, the complainant sued the accused  for assault, criminal intimidation, criminal force, mischief and  intentional insult.

He added that the offence committed by the accused was contrary to sections, 262, 264, 327, 396 and 399 of the penal code law.

When the matter came up for mention, the accused was absent and did not sent in representation.

Magistrate Shuaibu therefore ordered that for failing to appear in court without any reason, the accused must be physically present on the next adjourned date which was the 1st of April 2014.
