Deputy gov-elect chairs Kaduna transition committee

Kaduna State Governor-elect, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has approved the constitution of a 38-member transition committee to prepare work for his next government, which begins on May 29, 2019.

A statement by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Samuel Aruwan  said the transition committee would be presided over  by the Deputy Governor-elect of the state, Dr Hadiza Balarabe.

According to the governor’s spokesman, the transition committee, which will be inaugurated next week, has Alhaji Balarabe Lawal, the Secretary to the State Government, as vice-chairman and Muyiwa Adekeye, the Special Adviser (Media and Communication), as secretary.

The SSG  also chaired the APC Kaduna transition committee in 2015, with Adekeye as secretary.

Other members of the 38-member transition committee include the APC state Chairman, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada, the two APC senators-elect from Kaduna State, Suleiman Kwari and Uba Sani, as well as the Minister of Finance, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed.

Also on the list are Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Baba, Commissioner for Local Government, Prof. Kabir Mato,  and the Commissioner, Planning and Budget Commission, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi, who is also a member of the World Bank’s Advisory Council on Citizen Engagement.

A statement from the governor’s office stated that the ministries, departments and agencies of the state government would prepare their handover notes and commence briefing the transition committee by next week.
