Don’t relocate from Borno – Governor Zulum urges NYSC corps members

– The Borno state government has advised NYSC members not to seek relocation to other parts of the country

– Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno said that NYSC members stand to gain from reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement programmes if they remain in the state

– Moreover, Zulum said that the federal government has also recorded a lot of successes in the fight against insurgency in Borno

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno on Thursday, June 20, urged National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) members not to relocate to other regions of the country, as there is recorded success in the fight against insurgency in the state.

Speaking to corp members during the swearing-in ceremony of 2019 batch ‘B’ stream 1, Governor Zulum, represented by the state’s NYSC governing board, Alhaji Mahdi Gazali, said that there are numerous ongoing reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement programmes in Borno, Daily Trust reports.

He said: “I can report to you that, programmes initiated for reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement is yielding greater results.

“Therefore, I urged you not to contemplate relocating to other states of the federation. Rather, I would want you to come to Borno state so that you can key into our recovery and development programmes as well as contribute your own quota in rebuilding the state.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Halima Umar, a female corps member kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorists in January 2019 while serving in the Ministry of Finance in Borno state, had been freed.

The corps member was brought to the office of the deputy governor of Borno state at about 3.30 pm on Thursday, June 20, by some security officers led by the General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Biu.
