Fire razes IDPs camp in Borno

A mysterious fire has razed an Internally Displaced Persons camp in Monguno, Borno State.

Though details of casualties had yet to be known, residents of the town told our correspondent that some children, who were sleeping were burnt in the inferno.

A witness, Ibrahim Idi, told our correspondent on the telephone that the fire raged from around 11.30am till 12.50pm at the Stadium Camp, Monguno.

Idi said, “Till now, the number of children burnt in the fire is unknown.”

The national spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, Sani Datti, confirmed the incident, saying officials of the agency were still on the ground.
