Group fires back at League of Professionals (LP) over Borno state politics

| March 25, 2014

Biu Emirate Unity Forum (BEUF), a non-political and non-religious group has called on a political pressure group in Southern Borno, League of Professionals (LP) to allow politics of issues to prevail in Borno State.

The groups reaction in a statement by its coordinator, Mr. Gowon Yakubu Malgwi was made available to DailyPost in Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital on Monday.

The group’s statement entitled: “In defence of Tukur: Biu Emirate Unity Forum”, said, “its attention was drawn to a cowardly report by certain individuals going under aegis of Biu Group or Biu League of Professionals in both the Leadership Newspapers of Sunday, March 23, 2014, as well as in the Sunday Trust.

BEUF advised the National coordinator of Biu League of Professionals, Engr. Bitrus Mshelia Dogo, that as a son of Burah land, he is in a better position to spell ‘Mshelia’ correctly and not ‘Mishelia’ as presented in his report.

The statement reads in part: “For honours sake, we want the group to understand that every citizen of Borno State has the right to know how government is running the affairs of the state, of which Mr. Tukur Msheila and his group is only asking for explanations on certain happenings in the state.

“We believe he chose to be a voice for Borno people because so many voices that should have taken the lead to do what he is doing have also failed our people. Tukur is a messenger, who only sends the message, but ‘Biu Group’, our claimed brothers, have failed to answer the burning questions in the message, rather, “they have chosen to attack the messenger, which is unlike of the people they are claiming to represent. We are educated and should act as such.

“Funny, how could a league of professionals attack the messenger and not the message? We understand their position and reason that they are already angry by the position of Borno Concern Citizens under Mr. Tukur Mshelia. Our professionals want us to believe that Tukur is broke, as such, turned himself to a cheap paid spokesman for some individuals.

“We want our League of Professional to tell us how much they have been paid to also turn themselves into spokespersons for the Borno Governor, who is current flying between the United States and China while attacks by Boko Haram insurgents continued to claim the lives of his people in Borno.

“We want to encourage our League of Professionals to key in with the steps taken by Borno Concern Citizens, to come out and let our people know them and to stop attacking individuals but base their arguements on issues not tissues”.
