Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, the groups however noted that despite the irregularities, they were not substantial enough to warrant the cancellation of the results.

The groups led by Prof. Banake Sambo of the Initiative for the Promotion of Civic Obligation and Sustainable Peace also had in attendance at the press conference, Sani Umar of The Integrity Friends for Truth and peace initiative; Dr. Usman Kabiru,Centre for strategy ethics and value and Felicia Kwawo, Women Empowerment for Global Impact Initiative.

They alleged that there was massive vote buying and inducement in polling units in  Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Ikara, Kubau  and also Kachia, Igabi, Giwa, Zaria, Kagarko, Lere, Soba and Kauru.”

He also alleged that there was  non-usage of card readers  in some polling units in 10 local governments of Giwa, Zaria, Sabon-Gari, Ikara, Lere, Igabi, Soba, Kaduna South and Kaduna North.

“Our delegation observed that, the elections were marred by irregularities, instances of intimidation, vote buying, violent acts during voting, counting and collation of results as reported in some places. However, no loss of life was reported anywhere as a result of the elections day violence.

“The actions and impunity with which some electoral actors conducted themselves, using the military, INEC officials and polling agents, subvert citizen confidence in elections and threaten the legitimacy of the outcome of the elections.”
