Governor Masari

The governor spoke while delivering his acceptance speech at the council chamber of General Muhammadu Buhari Government House after his declaration as winner of the election by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

According to him, “as we celebrate our victory, it is important that we caution our people that the contest was not between enemies. In Katsina State, we do not have a loser, everyone is a winner. That is how we will move to the next level.

“I wish to reassure you of our commitment to continue to promote good governance in our state and prioritise the education sector, empowerment and security of our people. Insha Allah, we shall not disappoint.”

The governor described the victory as a vote of confidence expressed by the people of the state, saying: “Today’s victory is a vote of confidence and affirmation of trust on what our administration succeeded in achieving in our first term.

“Our first term, we had a pact with the people of the state that we will lead with the fear of Allah, that we would manage their resources judiciously, that we will provide you security and well-being, and that we would work hard to bequeath a Katsina State where our children will be proud to call home. Nothing changes, in fact, in anything I am here and now reaffirming our commitment to this pact as we move to the next level.

“Our success in this election would not have been possible without the general support and contributions of the millions of our party loyalists, supporters and well-wishers.

“In particular, I will like to pay tribute to our campaign council for their tireless effort without which no doubt the outcome of this election would have been different. Our party leaders, elders stakeholders, religious and traditional leaders, groups also contributed significantly to the electoral victory.”

On security, Masari said the government would not compromise the security of lives and property of people in the state as it would collaborate with neighbouring states of Zamfara and Kaduna to find a lasting solution to issues of insecurity along the border areas.
