Sokoto State governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal yesterday presented a budget proposal of N169, 652,771, 486, to the State House of Assembly for consideration for 2019 fiscal year.
The budget, which had a shortfall of about N50billion representing about 23 per cent of the 2018 budget, was tagged “Budget of Consolidation” by Tambuwal.
Giving details of the 2019 budget, Tambuwal said that N70, 468,519,58 represent 42 per cent is allocated for recurrent expenditure while the sum of N99,184,254,425 representing 58 per cent is for capital expenditure.
Tambuwal further highlighted some of his achievements in 2018 to include human capital and infrastructural developments, adding that his administration had distributed about 1,500 housing units sold to deserving workers.
Responding on behalf of the lawmakers, speaker of the Assembly, Salihu Maidaji, applauded Governor Tambuwal’s giant strides in the year under review.
Maidaji further stressed that the lawmakers would swiftly consider the budget in view of its importance to the entire state.
