The Katsina State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has given the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate, Yakubu Lado, the go-ahead to inspect materials used during the March 9 governorship election in the state.
The tribunal’s chairman, Justice H. Kereng, granted the ex parte order on Thursday.
The petitioner’s lead counsel, Rickey Tarfa, moved the ex parte motion requesting for the order after reading the application and the affidavit in its support sworn to by one Victor Ngbede.
The application was filed on March 18, 2019.
The four prayers in the ex parte motion include an order directing the third respondent, the Independent National Electoral Commission, to allow the petitioners inspect the originals of all the forms and voter register for the state.
They also include allowing the petitioners to inspect register of Permanent Voter Cards, Certified True Copies of same and all other electoral forms and other relevant documents in INEC custody.
The three respondents in the petition are the governor-elect, Aminu Masari, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress and INEC.
